Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Mitans 2023 Emil In the cellar: open woodenThe Land Volnay sits on the Cte de Beaune's western slope, and Les Mitans occupies a narrow band of mid slope that many consider the appellation's most classically proportioned premier cru. The Lafarge parcel is 0. 39 hectares, planted in 1952 and 1976, on a southeast facing site at roughly 250 meters elevation. Soils here are deep brown clay and silt over limestone bedrock, heavier than some Volnay sites, which gives Mitans its characteristic depth
