The soils are silty clay with a notable clay component that provides both structure and freshness. The vines are mixed age: 20% are 60 years old, the balance planted more recently. Older vines in La Morra's calcaire soils produce less fruit with more textural complexity and a longer finish; the younger vines add color and weight. "Case Nere" translates as
